It felt like it was her against the world right now and she didn't like it one bit. It was hard to function like this, not knowing when her babies were going to be taken away from her. The only comfort was the sun. Watching her two remaining kids play in the courtyard was just such a relief. They couldn't be harmed in the sunshine. Lily closed her eyes for a moment letting herself relax into the park bench. There had to be something she could do. Anything. She needed to be sold. She needed to be sold off so she could escape and rescue her kids if they were being sold off. She knew the time would come for Nicky.
The only way to be sold off was if she couldn't produce a child any longer. She could pretend but how? Everytime she went into the mating pens with another shifter or a human it was inevitable. They were starved until they mated and after a while the male she was with just gave in. They weren't as strong as Lily was. She was a fighter, thanks to her Italian blood. She could go a long time without comforts if it meant her children would be saved from despair. Lily gave a heavy sigh then got to her feet. She'd take a walk around the complex maybe, wander around. How much trouble could she get into anyway. There was only Jack lurking. No one else would dare touch her. She knew that for a fact.
Her bare feet danced across the green grass and she made sure to avoid the indoors as she wandered around, her hair dancing in the soft breeze...

It took 18 years, but Sage was finally to be sold to his first master. Everything he had been taught and prepared for would now be put to use, and he was rather excited to meet his new master. However, he was not officially sold yet, as the auction was still occurring, and until then, he was staying in a housing area for other slaves. Many were much less willing to be there than he was, but Sage had never known anything other than his inevitable duty as a slave. It was an honor; a privilege to serve, but there were some who did not feel the same.
The boy heard of the world outside of Mercy City. It was fascinating to say the least, and of course he wished to someday be able to see it with his own eyes, but he was needed here. In his spare time, when not working, Sage read his books, hoping to tune out some of the screams and fights that often broke out. He felt sorry for those poor disobedient souls and very much wished to help ease their pain, but if he was well behaved, he was allowed some time outside, which gave him great opportunities to spread his wings and keep his flight abilities at their best.
The sunlight was really comforting, and the wind brushed across his black feathers, causing him to shiver ever so slightly. It was a wonderful day to fly, and he lifted up into the air gently. With a strong flap of his wings, he flew higher into the air, until he could see the perimeter of the courtyard. It was beautiful as the sun painted the sky with its golden light.
Sage smiled from ear to ear, as he always enjoyed the view from the sky, but when a sudden gust overtook him, he found himself staring straight at the ground. He tumbled towards the ground rather quickly, and his wings outstretched, trying desperately to stop himself. He managed to slow himself enough to not get hurt when the impact would come, but when he opened his eyes fully, he found that his landing strip was not clear. The boy crashed into the poor unsuspecting woman dancing in the grass, sending them both to the ground. Sage rolled off of her, wincing a bit in pain before he flailed in concern over the brunette beauty he had just collided with.
"Oh god! I'm so sorry! Are you okay?! I didn't hurt you, did I?! This gust of wind got me, and I didn't see you down here!"

Lily screamed when she was hit but it was cut short quickly when she hit the ground and she gave a groan. Her fingers touched the black feathers above her and her eyes half opened. Suddenly it was gone. The feathers were pulled from her fingers and her eyes snapped open to see a young boy in front of her flailing a bit. He was talking but she could hardly make much out. Had she hit her head too hard. Slowly she began to sit up and reached back to touch her head. There was a bump forming. Lily focused her eyes on the worried green eyes before her. "Actually, I'm okay. I'm more worried about your wings." Lily knew this boy. She'd seen him before. In the hallways, during training sessions. Wasn't he being sold off too?
Soon. Lily took a quick breath. She felt like the wind had been knocked out of her. "You're... um... Sage right? I've seen you before. I'm sorry about you guys loosing Drake. Were you friends?" Lily asked conscious of upsetting him but still trying to work out which group she'd seen him with. The creations tended to stick together just like the shifters and the humans did around here. They were wary and careful of one another. They all had an enemy in common but that was about it really. Lily reached up to brush her auburn curls from her eyes then winced a little. Maybe she did get hurt a tad. She inspected her arm. Near her elbow she saw the pink beginnings of a bruise. Great. Lily flashed her eyes to Sage.
"I'll turn and everything will be fine. You'll see. Nothing to worry about. I'm Lily, breeding stock." Lily introduced then eyed his wings. "If they see you flying they'll think you're trying to escape. They might shoot you down. You need to be careful, sweetheart." She said softly. Where was Evelyn to talk to her many 'children'. Evelyn, the fairy, was everyone's mother where the creations were concerned. She was the first successful creaton and so called Eve to begin with. Everyone knew eve. She was super protective over the little ones. This must of been one of her so why didn't she warn him not to fly.
Or maybe the vampires knew. Creatons didn't think of escaping. There was just no point for them to. They grew up differently. They had a different concept on the word, slavery.

Sage was so worried he had hurt this poor woman. The way she screamed when he hit her...oh, he must've terribly frightened her too. But then she said that she was all right, and the blond gave a sigh of relief. She showed concern over his wings, and Sage stretched them out just to make sure they still had full mobility. They appeared to be in fine working condition, and he felt no pain.
"My wings are just fine. Thank you for worrying though"
He smiled gently when she spoke his name. This girl was quite the observant one to remember the name of a person she had yet to truly meet. Sage nodded before his smile disappeared at the mention of Drake. He did not frown and simply showed an apathetic expression. Of course he was sad about Drake. He would miss him terribly, but from day one, they were always destined to be sold off. It was an inevitability, so he could not whine about it. Sage himself was to be sold to someone within the week, and whether or not they would see each other again depended on their masters. He tilted his head at the term 'friends'.
"More than that. We're family. I will see him again. Family can't be separated forever"
The boy frowned when he saw the beginnings of a bruise on the woman's arm. So he did hurt her! He felt terrible! However, she mentioned turning, and he quickly realized that she must've been some sort of shifter.
"If only Lin were here...she'd be able to heal that up in no time at all...but then she'd have the bruise..."
He was a bit surprised as she called herself 'breeding stock'. He had not heard that one before, but it probably was not inaccurate either. Sage was rather thankful to not be a woman in that case. She introduced herself as Lily, and he couldn't help but smile. What a beautiful name...it seemed to suit her well. However, at the comment she made about his flying, he was stunned. The idea of being shot down in the air was frightening, and he nodded in agreement with her about being careful.
"I don't usually fly that high...that's probably why the wind surprised me so much...it's stronger the higher you go. I'm so sorry that I was reckless and hit you...I promise I'll be more careful. I would never try to escape. Mother would be disappointed in me if I ruined all her hard work"
