[align=center]London City. An epidemic of recurring nightmares is sweeping through the city. Night after night, the denizens of London witness horrors, desperately trying to wake up. More and more, though, they find they cannot wake; at times because they already are. Something weighs down the city's heart, and no one can escape it.
From the surface, this world looks just like our own. Yet within, hidden away from the eyes of those who do not think to see, is a world of shadow. These shadows are so much deeper than those we know, hide a much greater truth: that the supernatural is very real, and that it haunts our lives. It does not want to be seen, nor do we want to see it.
Rumours spread through fringe, superstitious channels of spiritual upheaval, stirring gods, and angels masquerading as men. Dread creeps its cold fingers into the city's spine, yet so few have the fortitude to pull back the curtain they have put up and see the world for what it truly has become. Blue Ruin is a Horror-Mystery board, and host to a variety of species - the obvious humans, in addition to vampires, werewolves, Faerie-touched and horrifically warped Changelings, resurrected and nomadic corpses known as Prometheans, and as many other mythic beasts as can be imagined - players are allowed to create, submit, and play their very own custom races.
This is a Literate-Advanced board, with no word count. This means we not only hold, but prize the quality of a post over its length. It also means that we do not want the various powers on this site, used by its denizens, to have formally established limits - we allow as much freedom as we can to our players, so long as they endeavour to stay within reasonable bounds of this world.
So diverse and deep is this world, the mysteries know no end. Yet, one thing is apparent - it needs you. It welcomes you into its blackened fold, beckons for for you to join it.
